RED Hook Soccer Club - Travel Program

Soccer Bus Photo Red Hook Soccer Club's Travel program forms teams annually based upon coaching and player interest. Travel teams play against other member clubs of the East Hudson Youth Soccer League (www.ehysl.com). EHYSL is affiliated with US Youth Soccer (USYSA), and the US Soccer Foundation (USSF).
NOTE: USSF is the governing organization responsible for the USA's representation to FIFA and its World Cup competition.

A player typically begins at the Club's Intramural level. During the Spring "open tryouts" are held to establish a player listing for a travel team. These teams are age-gender-skill based ( aka Boys Under12 Division 2 ). With a dedicated work ethic, players can progress to higher levels of play within USYSA the Olympic Development Program (ODP). The 1st step being League ODP - formally called "Select" - then State ODP, Regional ODP and ultimately National ODP.

Did you know that in the past several Red Hook players have reached the Regional ODP tryouts, and certainly within the EHYSL community, players have advanced to National team and/or professional play.

Our Travel program principles are simple;
attract similarly aged & skilled players onto a team, give them proper coaching direction, play competitively against others to challenge them, promote good sportmanship and have FUN! Therefore, travel soccer is appropriate for players with;
1.) above average skills,
2.) a "love" for the game, and
3.) a willingness to improve by practicing and playing in a more challenging setting.
"Open Tryouts" occur in early Spring so teams can get formed for play that will take place in the Fall and Spring seasons. A usual schedule has 8-10 games per season with games played on Sunday afternoons. Half of the games are home and the away games can being reached within 40-70 minutes by car. Games are officiated by certified Referees. In addition, winter indoor practice occurs as best possible and teams typically attend 2 or 3 indoor tournaments.
