Winter 2005-2006 season has Travel teams advancing...
The Travel Program continues building on its strengthens during its winter "offseason":
The Travel Program - with its 5 teams ( BU09 Thunder, BU09 Lightning, BU11 Storm, GU12 Wildfire, & BU12 Blizzard ) - finished the Fall season showing positive signs. While all 5 teams continued to strengthen with each game, three (3) new teams were added to compete starting in the Spring ( GU14 Heat, GU15 Riptide, & BU19 Plague ) raising the Travel team count to a RHSC high of 8!
To further on the noted improvements of the Fall, all the teams are practicing indoors and participating in tournament play... with some notable success. In December at the Wappinger United Soccer Club's Tournament at Vassar, the GU12 Wildfire team split itself and entered as 2 teams. The Wildfire girls had a sound performance and finished in 3rd & 5th Place. In January, back at Wappinger's "part 2" of their tournament saw the GU15 Riptide also participating as 2 teams. An impressive showing by both halves with numerous shutouts being achieved resulted in a 1st and 4th place finish! Congratulations to the Riptide team. Next on the list for most of the teams is Red Hook's own "Soccer Fever" tournament at Bard in late February. Other tournament play is planned, then come late March/ Early April, it's back to outdoor play for the Spring 2006 Travel season for all!
And what about the Spring 2006 Intramural Season:
The Board has begun preparation for the 2nd half of the program year... the upcoming Spring 2006 season. If you are a "Fall Only" player ( or know someone that is ) and wish to play this Spring... now is the time to request continuance. Please be forewarned that the request is not a guarantee as full rostered teams may exist. As in the past to properly manage this effort, a "waiting list" is being used. Therefore please contact Brooke Stevens ( Club Registrar ) or Mary Strieder ( VP-Intramural Program ) for assistance as they are solely responsible to coordinate placement.
